“Giving back is very important to us, so when we were looking to partner with a local not-for-profit, Guardian House was a perfect fit. –its local women helping local women, says co-owner, Rebecca Southwood”. These women have been through a lot; it’s time we give back to those who gave so much to protect our country. We are overly thrilled with Kara DePaula’s incredible donation – another local woman who gives so much to her community. The local support has been overwhelming and we are grateful to be a part of this Saratoga Spirit”.

Paddock Lounge is a sexy yet sophisticated 3,000 square foot underground lounge offering an alternative to the traditional Saratoga Nightlife. As you walk through the doors, a massive commissioned piece from local artist Frankie Flores pops with a grandly scaled wrought iron Candle Light Chandelier. Plush espresso leather sofa groups strategically placed in open spaces and in small nooks compliment the earthy hues. Reminiscent of antique fixtures, wrought iron sconces and hanging fixtures dance off exposed brick and dark woods creating a rustic romantic ambience. Tufted espresso leather barstools with polished nickel nail-head accents await guests around a stately granite bar offset with a gas fireplace. The centerpiece of Paddock Lounge is the music scene. A live Social Hour (Paddock’s Happy Hour version) will run 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday-Saturday with live music and 2-4-1 drink specials. The holy grail of local cover bands such as Audiostars, Soul Session, Gravity and Crossfire hit the stage at 9:30 every Friday and Saturday night with a large dance floor. “The Paddock” features a casual bar menu, creative cocktails, craft beer and a handful of fine wines. Paddock Lounge is available for private parties, art exhibitions, fashion shows, comedy shows and charity events. Operating hours are Tuesday-Saturday 4p.m.-closing.
Guardian House, a project of The Saratoga County Rural Preservation Co., will open its doors to 11 servicewomen in July 2011 at 1214 route 50 Burnt Hills, NY. The foundation for this project was built on the lack of temporary shelter facilities for homeless women veterans. In fact there are less than a dozen such facilities in the United States. Homeless community shelters are unequipped to handle the special needs of our veterans and are unable to partake in the various programs offered through the Veterans Administration for veterans. Guardian House will provide advocacy, case management, employment opportunities and permanent housing options for veterans. The Saratoga County Rural Preservation Company is a not-for-profit organization serving homeless veterans and the housing needs of the rural poor. They have been operating a men’s transitory home in Ballston Spa for the past 22 years.
