Global Foundries Open House

GLOBALFOUNDRIES is building the most advanced semiconductor wafer manufacturing facility in the world at the Luther Forest Technology Campus in Saratoga County, New York. Construction of the new fab, called “Fab 8,” began in 2009 and is on track to begin manufacturing in 2012. The Fab 8 project is currently the largest commercial economic development project in the United States and approximately 1,400 new positions are expected to be created once the new facility is in full operation.

On Sunday, October 24th, a steady stream of cars and people traveled to Fab 8, in Malta, as GLOBAL FOUNDRIES and M&W Zander hosted an open house offering the community a chance to get an insiders view of the facility. “It’s great that GLOBAL FOUNDRIES and M&W Zander are willing to open their doors like this,” said Todd Shimkus, President of the Saratoga County Chamber of Commerce. “In just the last three months, GLOBAL FOUNDRIES has hosted this open house, a neighborhood meeting and a regional job fair demonstrating their commitment to keep people informed and engaged regarding the construction of Fab 8 and the jobs it will provide.”
